Chromebooks are available for checkout at the library. Each Chromebook comes with a protective bag and charger. Library users can check out a Chromebook for up to six weeks at a time.

Respondus LockDown Browser

Please note that the Respondus LockDown Browser is unable to run on these Chromebooks. Other laptops with the Respondus LockDown Browser installed may be available at the Circulation desk.

Chromebook Setup Instructions

Connect to Campus Wifi

To connect a Chromebook to Tech's wifi (LaTechWPA2):

  1. Ensure the following configurations are set:
    1. EAP Phase 2 authentications: Automatic
    2. Server CA certificate: Do not check
    3. Domain suffix match: latech.edu
  2. Put in Identity & Password (use your Tech user ID and password). This will be the same Single Sign-On (SSO) information you use to log in to Canvas or most other Tech sites and services.
  3. Click 'Connect'

Add Person/Login

You must first login to a Chromebook in order to use it.

  1. Ensure you are connected to Tech's wifi
  2. Click 'Add Person' in the lower-left of the screen
  3. Select 'For work or school' from the options given
  4. Enter your Tech user ID @email.latech.edu (abc123@email.latech.edu)
  5. Sign in with your Tech SSO user ID and password
  6. Verify your account with Duo, then select 'No, other people use this device.'

Before Returning a Chromebook

Before returning the Chromebook, remove your account from the computer:

  1. Navigate to your account on the startup screen
  2. Click the down-facing arrow to the right of your name, and select 'Remove account'
  3. You will be warned that all files and local data will be permanently deleted from the device once your account is removed.
  4. Click 'Remove account' again to finish the process

Be sure to return the charger and bag along with the Chromebook. Chromebooks will not be accepted without the charger and bag. You will be liable for any overdue fees if this results in a delay in returning the device. If the charger or bag are lost or damaged, you will be liable for replacement costs and processing fees for those items.
