Electronic Resources for U.S. Foreign Relations
A growing number of primary source materials relating to U.S. foreign relations are available online. The Office of the Historian maintains this list as a resource for the public and will continue to update it as more resources are made available.

ForeignAssistance.gov is the U.S. government’s flagship website for making U.S. foreign assistance data available to the public. It serves as the central resource for budgetary and financial data produced by U.S. government agencies that manage foreign assistance portfolios. It shows the multi-dimensional picture of U.S. foreign assistance through a highly visual and interactive website.

Bin Laden's Bookshelf
In the weeks following the raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, by United States forces, U.S. Intelligence Community analysts sifted through the recovered digital and hard copy materials in search of clues that would reveal ongoing al-Qa`ida plots, identities and locations of al-Qa`ida personnel, and other information of immediate importance.

PlusD
The WIKILEAKS Public Library of US Diplomacy (PlusD) holds the world's largest searchable collection of United States confidential, or formerly confidential, diplomatic communications. As of April 8, 2013 it holds 2 million records comprising approximately 1 billion words. The collection covers US involvements in, and diplomatic or intelligence reporting on, every country on earth. It is the single most significant body of geopolitical material ever published. The PlusD collection, built and curated by WikiLeaks, is updated from a variety of sources, including leaks, documents released under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and documents released by the US State Department systematic declassification review.

OpenNet
The OpenNet database provides easy, timely access to approximately 512,000 bibliographic references and over 130,000 with attached full-text, including information declassified in response to Freedom of Information Act requests. In addition to these documents, OpenNet references older document collections from several DOE sources.

On April 11, 2025, the U.S. Department of State posted over 18870 documents to the Department’s FOIA web site.
