Government Documents at LA Tech University

How to find and use U.S. government publications

Louisiana Public Document Depository Program

State agencies and institutions are required by LRS 25:124 and LAC 25:VII:5 to furnish the Recorder of Documents with copies of public documents to meet the needs of the LPDDP, which distributes them to public and academic libraries across the state.

The success of the LPDDP depends on the conscientious efforts of those state employees who perform the duties as liaison between their agencies and the depository program.

State Documents at Prescott Memorial Library

Prescott Memorial Library has an extensive collection of Louisiana state documents. Serving the 5th Congressional District, the Library has been a member of the Louisiana Public Document Depository Program since 1948, and became a historical state document depository in 2012.

Title 25, section 124.1 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes requires state depository libraries to “make public documents accessible to the public, and to render free service in their use.”

Louisiana Documents in paper format are located on the main floor of Prescott Library. They do not circulate. A photocopier, at the cost of $0.10 per page, and a scanner are available on the main floor.
